Marcia Banks

Secretary - Curriculum Advisor

Marcia is an educator who began her teaching career in 1975. She taught for 18 years in the USA and with the Department of Defense Schools in Germany prior to joining the International School of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland where she first taught Science / EAL / LS to Primary children. For her last 18 years prior to retirement, she was the Anglophone Vice Principal for the Primary School, La Grande Boissière, International School of Geneva. 

 
Since 2005, Marcia runs the Odyssey of the Mind Program, an internationally recognised creative problem-solving program, in Switzerland, and continues to coach teams and travel with teams to world-wide competitions. 
 
Marcia holds a MS in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas, and as a classroom teacher, Marcia was awarded the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science in 1990 and in 1991 the Phi Delta Kappa-Germany award for Innovative Teacher of the Year.
 
Her background and passion for working with students to help them explore their creativity, seek solutions to complex problems, and develop their teamwork skills, are elements that are important and essential in what we aim to do with WeNeedTrees.
